Criw Cymraeg

There are members of Criw Cymraeg in every class from Year 2 up and their role is to promote the use of Welsh inside and outside the classroom. They lead a weekly ‘Gwasanaeth Cymraeg’ where they introduce the ‘Sgwrs y mis’ and reward each class with ‘ siardwr yr wythnos’ ‘ welsh speaker of the week’. They also choose Welsh hymns and songs for the school to learn and lead everyone in Welsh prayer.

Criw Cymraeg meet weekly to work towards the targets, with children in Year 6 taking on the leading roles of Chairperson, Vice – Chairperson and secretary. They have an agenda for each meeting, where they discuss future events, new initiatives, ideas for assemblies, activities for Clwb Cymraeg and what games to lead during playtime on a Friday.

Our Criw Cymraeg also ensure that the targets on our whole school display in the corridor are updated as we collect evidence for each target.

Each class has a new Helpwr Heddiw each day, where they have the opportunity to ask and answer questions in Welsh.

As a school, we have achieved the 'Gwobr Efyd, Bronze Award and Gwobr Arian, Silver Award as part of the Cymraeg Campus.

We are currently working towards achieving the Gwobr Aur, Gold Award.
